DCS: Updates....

Como no encuentro un post al respeto, os pongo lo ultimo que ha salido, que es mucho sobre las ultimas novedades de Eagle Dinamics.

Salida de DCS: World
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87426
DCS World is a single, unified core for all DCS products to operate within. Rather than separate installations for each DCS products, the single DCS world interface allows the user to access all of their DCS products in a common user interface. DCS world also includes a DCS News service and will allow users to purchase DCS titles through the interface at a later point.

DCS World will be updated as DCS evolves with changes to the rendering system, AI units, AI logics, effects, etc. All aspect of the simulation, outside the flyable aircraft, add-on maps, and other paid-for content.

The current DCS World is still in beta and will evolve over time with new features.

The initial DCS World comes with a free flyable aircraft, the Su-25T (exported from Flaming Cliffs 2).
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87429
Main Menus
Selecting Missions
The main menu now has Tabs similar to modern web browsers to select quick missions or campaigns for certain aircraft. There is also a "users" tab for campaign selection. Also selecting a mission dialog has a little "DCS" next to the mission name.
Other Stuff
You can set a "theme" or wallpaper within the options based on whichever aircraft you want. A "special" tab is located in the options menu but currently has nothing.

Additionally multiplayer interface has not yet changed.

Mission Editor.
Warehoues
GUI dialogs exist for the anticipated "warehouse" feature. You can place warehouse via "static objects". Each warehouse has dialogs associated with which airbases they supply. You can specify how much aircraft, fuel, and weapons a warehouse has access too and how often it gets resupplied.

Curiously the F-111, Ka-52, Mig-29K and Aim-9X appear in the warehouse list but can't be placed in the sim. I realize most of these have art assets or code sitting somewhere idle in the sim... but so did the Harrier which is missing...
Updated:
Looked at warehouses a little bit more, it appears that FARPS and airbases have their own warehouses built into the base in addition to the static object "warehouse" that you can place anywhere on the map. You can specify which warehouses (on or off base) can supply who, however resupply doesn't seem to be implemented yet. You can also specify which coalition owns a base via the bases warehouse.
Mission Options
F10 view can now be limited to "Fog of War". Unknown how it is implemented, assume similar to Starcraft or other RTS.
Group Related
All ground units are now sorted by type. A dropdown box gives options, air defence, armor, artillery, fortification, unarmed, and infantry.
"Late Activation" checkbox has been added. And automatically sets the start time to 0:0:0/0.
P-51D has a "civil plane" checkbox. Checking this removes the box specifying how much gun ammunition it carries.
Player controllable aircraft are listed slightly differently from that of AI.
Triggers
Did not notice any new conditions, however new actions are present.
Group Sound/Message - Sends a group either a text or audio message. Same function as Coalition or Country Sound/Message
Radio Beacon Unit/Zone - Specifies an audio sound to be broadcast from a specific unit or zone. Can specify AM/FM, frequency in Khz, Power in Watts, and whether or not it loops.
Set Briefing - Allows you to set a new image and briefing text for Red, Blue, or offline (general briefing). Currently unknown whether it replaces the briefing or adds to the briefing.
Mission Goals still lacks a "clone" button.

Game Environment:

"Abort takeoff" added to the ATC dialog. Once commanded, ATC will direct you to park on ramp.

Appears to be a new font on almost everything.

Will give the Toad a flight later to report other findings.

Other Changes
File structure changed slightly. Missions and campaigns are now located in dcsworld\mods\aircrafts\(aircraftname)\missions
editado
Warehouses are clearly still a WIP, however some of it is functioning! I was able to test somethings out and I might have a more clear picture of how the warehouses work.

Any aircraft that spawns at an airbase automatically removes whatever their payload and themself from the inventory at the base. If an aircraft spawns in with a payload that has run out, the aircraft will automatically spawn with whatever is available. I tested it with 5 A-10Cs, all loaded with 22 Mk-82 bombs with the 5th plane set to spawn in 10 seconds after mission start. 88 Bombs had been used (spawned) and the 5th plane spawned in with exactly 14 bombs. The math isn't perfect, however the 5th A-10 spawned with 2 TER's completely empty and 1 TER with a single bomb. Payload also wasn't 'balanced', but its AI so it doesn't really matter, however it could be an issue for client/player aircraft unable to specify their payload based on what is available. At least for the AI, once they land their assets are NOT added back into the inventory. Hopefully that's a WIP issue. Either way seeing it prevent the AI from taking their default loadout because the base ran out of bombs is very promising to see!
Salida de P-51D

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics will release their next Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) aircraft in 2012: the legendary P-51D Mustang. The Mustang was among the best and most well-known fighters used by the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Possessing excellent range and manoeuvrability, the P-51 operated primarily as a long-range escort fighter and also as a ground attack fighter-bomber with bombs, rockets, and machine guns. The Mustang served in nearly every combat zone during WWII, and later fought in the Korean War.

The DCS: P-51D Mustang will be modelled at the same exacting detail as the existing Ka-50 Black Shark and A-10C Warthog Digital Combat Simulation (DCS) aircraft and it will be online compatible with them. Based on many years of restoring, flying and maintaining Mustangs, The Fighter Collection brings its unique ability to portray this aircraft in its full glory.

The P-51D will be the first aircraft in the Flying Legends series that focuses on historical aircraft that have set benchmarks in combat aviation. This series of simulations demonstrates the broad scope of DCS simulation environment and its ability to introduce aircraft from all eras into a common simulation environment. While the P-51D started as an internal technology demonstration, it has evolved into an independent product that adds an all new dimension to the DCS universe. The development of the P-51D and other Flying Legends series aircraft definitely does not preclude the continued development of modern aircraft.

More details of DCS: P-51D Mustang will be made available closer to product release later this year.

Y por ultimo, trabajos en el futuro 3rd Party DCS: Mig-21Bis

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87621
I'm happy to announce my first independent 3rd party module - "DCS: MiG-21Bis Fishbed". This new module development is based on the new 3rd party License agreement/support that was previously announced by TFC/Eagle Dynamics. I plan to release MiG-21Bis later in 2012.

The MiG-21Bis is considered a third-generation, supersonic, jet fighter. It's avionics equipment ensures day and night operations in fair and poor weather conditions. Some 50 countries over four continents have flown the MiG-21, and it still serves many nations a half-century after its maiden flight. The MiG-21 broke a number of aviation records and it is still the most produced supersonic jet aircraft in aviation history.

"DCS: MiG-21Bis Fishbed" includes both Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground capabilities that includes various conventional weapons like missiles, rockets, bombs, and a built in 23mm cannon. "DCS: MiG-21Bis Fishbed" will also use less widely known weapons such as some advanced air-to-surface guided missiles, retarded and general purpose bombs, and some special devices.

Features of the "DCS: MiG-21Bis Fishbed":

• Highly detailed six-degrees-of-freedom cockpit with dynamic shadows. Interact with cockpit controls with your mouse like previous DCS products.
• Accurate airframe and realistic 3D cockpit model.
• Detailed modeling of the MiG-21Bis instruments, navigation, electrical, radar, engine, fuel, and weapon systems.
• Russian and English cockpit texts and hints

• Improved and more realistic airplane behaviors that are based on real MiG-21Bis pilot tests and instruction.
• More than a twenty high detailed aircraft skin with unique stencil texts.
• More than a dozen new deliverable weapon.

"DCS: MiG-21Bis Fishbed” is developed by Laszlo 'beczl' Becz in association with The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics. Further information will be provided as development progresses. I will be providing Work In Progress (WIP) screenshots, videos, and other product information.

Bug Fixes and Adjustments:

DCS World
Network code improved for greater stability.

Note: Although many improvements and optimizations have been made, we still highly recommend 16 player limit when hosting complex missions. Depending on the exact composition of the mission, the bandwidth and number of players that a host may accommodate will vary. As always though, clients must be aware of their ping times (often influenced by connection distance to host) as this can cause warping and other connection issues.

Fixed multiplayer data link for Russian aircraft.
Fixed Force Feedback joystick trim problems.
Tuned aircraft gun smoke.
Fixed Set Path to Column formation.
Fixed Georgian soldier animation.
Fixed long range radar break-lock for Russian aircraft.
AIM-120 and R-77 maximum load factor increased to 40g.

R-33 data adjusted. Thrust, drag and lift, initial delay of guidance.
R-60 data adjusted.
R-73 data adjusted.
Multi-channel missile guidance is fixed.
Decreased the damage value of modern AA missiles warheads from directional to enhanced. Earlier AIM-120 and R-77 had a warheads with large multiplier factor termed "directional". These missiles were very lethal, more so than even an S-300. It was not realistic and we decided replace "directional" warhead with the less power "enhanced" warhead.
Number of simultaneously guided AIM-120s is 4 for F-15, F-16 and F-18.
Number of simultaneously guided AIM-54 is 4 for F-14.

Palabras de Coff sobre el trabajo con varios nucleos
http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1 ... stcount=45
The nearest target we are moving to is decoupling of graphics and simulation into separate threads.
This is quite possible with the current codebase, without a major rewrite.
En pocas palabras, lo mismo que se hizo en su momento con el sistema de sonidos, ahora con los graficos en nucleos separados

Sorry Cowboy, I won't be able to make it down to Weston due to work that weekend.
It also gives us, well Tango, some time to get the code transferred to the cockpit DLL.
There is still lots of research going on for an accurate flight model and whilst that still may not be ready for July, we'd like to have something at least that flies like a Hawk. May would be just too early for both.

In several weeks time I'm hoping to open up applications for Beta testers. We have a team of Alpha testers already that make up members from various VFS' and ED testers as well as real life pilots.

Once we have a solid flight model, the Virtual Red Arrows are also going to put her through her paces in a 9 or 10 ship formation flight to see how the graphics fps load may be affected. I can't wait to get some screens and video from that flight

So, i guess that some of you may be able to fly her before July

At the moment I'm also testing how the multiplayer function is working in terms of if you have the mod installed or not and you join a server without it loaded on your PC.
We may have to release a downloadable external model pack to ensure compatibility.
Ill keep you updated on that as testing goes on and will need some public help with a session coming soon so keep an eye out.

Cheers,
Chris.

Re: DCS: Updates....

Se requieren Alpha Testers, atentos con los requerimientos

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103034
We are pleased to announce that we are ready for closed Alpha testing of DCS:Hawk

Our requirements include:

* Anyone with verifiable BAE Hawk experience, and/or;
* Strong aeronautical engneering/systems knowledge;
* Good knowledge of real-world systems behaviors;
* Can commit to a minimum 8 hours per week testing systems as necessary.

Alpha tester registrants will be interviewed by the VEAO team during April to verify the requirements listed above.

An NDA will be in effect and you will be required to agreee to it's terms and conditions and sign it before being allowed access to the module*.

Testers will be granted acces to a limited time licence key which will be renewed every 30 days depending on the testers commitment.
Licence keys can only be used one time on one PC, as to stop sharing and illegal file usage.

Singleplayer and multiplayer testing will be required. VEAO team hosted Multiplayer sessions will most likely be during GMT night time hours Monday to Thursday, but weekend testing may be undertaken by testers on dedicated closed servers and at other times as necessary.

Applications are open to the entire community and public; however the criteria stipulated above must be met and verified.

Current ED Testers are welcome to apply; however testing of DCS:Hawk must not detract from ED testing duties and DCS:Hawk testing does not form any part of your NDA with ED.

Please either PM me or email me on ells@veao.eu with the following information:

Subject: DCS:Hawk Alpha Tester Application

Full name:
Callsign/nickname:
Location:
Experience as per the criteria:
Email address:

Once your application has been received, you will recieve a return PM or email from a representative of VEAO to arrange a time for the interview.
Post interview you will be notified if you have become an Alpha Tester and access privalages will be granted.

Current VEAO Alpha Testers must re-apply and must meet the criteria above.
Current DCS:Hawk testers have no need to apply as you have been invited into the testing programme already by VEAO.

* Full name, address and date of birth will be required on the NDA. Any applicant not wishing to divulge these details will be considered on a case by case basis and may not be allowed access into the testing programme.

Re: DCS: Updates....

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1 ... tcount=394
A quick update for you.

Tango has nearly completed porting the cockpit code over to the DLL so I have a busy days testing tomorrow (good job I booked the day off work) before I head off to snowy Austria for a week snowboarding.

As you will have seen we have opened up applications for Alpha Testers.
This is for a select few that have real life experience in either the Hawk or similar systems.
This is a significant milestone for us on the project and one we are proud to have achieved.

At this point it is too early to say when the Open Beta testing will begin as there are still a few things we are working with ED on and discussions with BAE.

Our thought process is that we will run a similar system to ED in that it will be a paid for Beta and details of costings etc are still under discussion but likely to reflect standard ED pricing.

I know I keep promising a video, of which I will do when I'm back from holiday next week, showcasing the full cockpit and functions.

Many thanks again for all of the posts, PM's and Emails giving your support.

Cheers,
Chris.

Release of DCS: Combined Arms

DCS: Combined Arms gives you control of air and ground forces during the battle. Use the Command Map to move and task air and ground forces, set artillery fire missions, and control the ground battle. Assume the role of a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in multiplayer and designate targets for player-controlled close air support aircraft, or directly control armor vehicles or air defense weapons to engage the enemy.

Play DCS: Combined Arms as a real time strategy game, a first person armor warfare game, or direct the ground battle from the cockpit of a DCS aircraft like the A-10C Warthog, Ka-50 Black Shark, or P-51D Mustang.

DCS: Combined Arms supports both single player and multiplayer game play. When in multiplayer, different players can take on different roles such as artillery commanders, tank commanders, pilots, JTACS, etc. DCS: Combined Arms allows you full control of the battle. All roles can be changed dynamically during the battle.

Features of DCS: Combined Arms:
• Move and task air and ground forces and direct their fire during a mission.
• Be the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and direct close air support in multiplayer.
• Jump into the seat of many armor and air defence units to engage enemy air and ground forces.
• Play in both single player and multiplayer games.
• Both small and large scale battle missions included.
• Part of DCS World
Further updates and improvements will be made to DCS: Combined Arms.

Release of DCS Version 1.2.3

The new 1.2.3 update to DCS World and DCS Modules is now available as an auto-update, or downloaded directly from www.digitalcombatsimulator.com. This update includes a number of new, free DCS World features including a new DCS World Su-27 model, new triggers, and new scripting tools. It also includes major new features to the Combined Arms and Flaming Cliffs 3 modules. In addition to adding new features, this update includes many bug fixes and adjustments like missile performance, network game stability, force feedback joysticks, and a lot more.

You can read about all the changes here

DCS 1.2.4 Development

With version 1.2.3 now available, work is underway on version 1.2.4. The primary focus of this next version will be:
1 - Further improvements to network play and stability
2 - Coincide with the release of DCS: UH-1 Huey
3 - Improvements to air-to-air missile performance
4 - Changes and adjustments to beyond visual range combat systems

Moving to 64-bit Operating Systems Only

As we move forward improving the DCS World environment, we are more and more often running into roadblocks that prevent us from doing so due to supporting 32 bit operating systems. This includes larger and more populated worlds with greater terrain mesh details and textures. By moving to 64 bit support only, we will be able solve this and allow larger missions with more units, and it will allow us to improve visual effects.
This change will be coming in the next few months.

The Future of DCS

Currently the team is focused on completing Flaming Cliffs 3 and continued updates and improvements to DCS World. Once Flaming Cliffs 3 is complete, more of our focus will shift to upcoming DCS titles like the F-15C, F/A-18C and Fw-190D9. Looking further out, Eagle Dynamics and our partners plan a large number of new modules that include the Su-27SM, F-86F, MiG-15Bis, MiG-21Bis, Hawk, Mi-8, Mi-24, OH-58 and AH-1G, to just name a few.

The team is also hard at work on many updates and changes to our world rendering system, which will allow us to make new and much more detailed worlds than we have now, including the Nevada map. We hope to have these changes in place before the end of the year.

With the combination of a large and varied stable of aircraft, along with upcoming new maps, we will continue moving forward toward our goal of DCS World allowing combat missions over a wide array of time periods and locations. While our products initially started with a focus on modern day jets, this is now expanding to include World War 2, Korea, Vietnam and modern day content.

Sincerely,

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics Team
