This past week we reached some interesting milestones.
- During a trip to Chile, crossing the Atlantic to the far side of the world, we couldn't let pass the chance to jump on a C-101CC in the Museo Nacional Aeronáutico y del Espacio - Santiago de Chile, in order to take videos and pictures from each possible angle. We would like to thank the Director of the museum and Staff for allowing the visit to the aircraft and opening front/rear cockpit for us.
- We are now taking advantage of all aerodynamic data available from C101 in order to keep working on AFM, which will hopefully give good results once they are fully implemented.
- We have been reestructuring all the livery folders to reduce the module size, deleting duplications, reducing our installation from 2Gb to 1.35Gb.
- We keep implementing systems on EB/CC rear cockpit, working on both cockpits integration, fixing some bugs and tuning some systems.
- Texturing work has started in our the new F1 model.

La semana pasada llegamos a algunos hitos interesantes.
- Durante un viaje a Chile, cruzando el Atlántico hasta el otro lado del mundo, no podíamos dejar pasar la oportunidad de saltar sobre un C-101CC en el Museo Nacional Aeronáutico y del Espacio - Santiago de Chile, a fin de tener vídeos e imágenes desde cada ángulo posible. Nos gustaría dar las gracias al director del museo y del personal por permitir la visita a la aeronave y abrirnos la cabina anterior/posterior para nosotros.
- Ahora estamos aprovechando todos los datos aerodinámicos disponibles del C101 con el fin de seguir trabajando en el AFM, que esperemos dé buenos resultados una vez que se implementen completamente.
- Hemos estado reestructurando todas las carpeta de libreas para reducir el tamaño general del módulo, eliminando las duplicidades. Hemos reducido la instalación de 2 GB a 1.35Gb.
- Seguimos con la implementación de sistemas de la cabina trasera en el EB/CC, trabajando en la integración de ambas cabinas, corrigiendo algunos problemas y ajustando algunos sistemas.
- El trabajo de texturizado se ha iniciado en nuestro nuevo modelo de F1.[/quote]

For the purpose of bigger approach of perception of management Mi-8MTB2 of DCS to real, specialists of the company Belsimtek enter into game new control for joysticks - "JOYSTICK WITHOUT SPRINGS AND FFB".

That is trimming option for joysticks without springs and without feedback (FFB – Force Feedback)."

Features of use of joysticks of various designs.

As in the real helicopter the handle of a cyclic step of the helicopter, practically never is in strictly central situation and at the same time the mechanism of trim effect is actively used (fixing by springs of any situation CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM), the joystick with feedback (FFB) which also, as well as in real can fix the handle in any place of admissible range of movements, is ideal option for management of helicopter model. Position of the handle of the joystick with feedback (FFB) always corresponds to situation CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM in a virtual cabin. Almost exact imitation of work of CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM, as in the real helicopter is created. In the ordinary joystick the handle is kept by springs in the central situation, and the player needs or to overcome constantly efforts of springs, or to use function of the "EXPECTATION of RETURN TO the CENTER" control that does not allow to play comfortably on models of helicopters.

Because joysticks with FFB feedback, are rather rare on sale presently, and also are quite expensive, enthusiasts of the Mi-8MTB2 module with support Belsimtek conducted research on the basis of the COBRA M5 joystick

, for the purpose of a possibility of its completion regarding acquisition of the main property by it from FFB joysticks – possibilities of free movement and deduction without efforts of the handle of the game device on any mode of flight of model of the helicopter.,
Centering springs which keep the handle in the center were removed from the COBRA M5 joystick. And under axes of longitudinal and cross rocking chairs, washers, for the purpose of creation of loading effect for the joystick handle were enclosed (that there was no "falling" of the handle at a hand).

For a perception correctness the simulator of such modifed joystick and at the same time preservations of sound effect of trimming into game entered new control for joysticks with the withdrawn springs - "JOYSTICK WITHOUT SPRINGS AND FFB".
This function allows to synchronize when pressing the button of the trimmer position of the virtual handle with position of the handle of the joystick on various modes of flight.

Flights on DCS: Mi-8 MTB2, with use of the COBRA M5 joystick and remote springs, showed excellent imitation of work of CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM, full compliance of situation CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM in a virtual cabin and joystick handles. Running start of indexes of the autopilot decreased, management became more exact, unpleasant twitchings of the handle of management when using the "trimming with return to the center" mode due to the lack of need of return of the handle of the joystick to the central situation for removal of effort from joystick springs disappeared. In general flights became more smooth.

Testing was carried out by real pilots of MI-8 who confirmed high extent of approach of motility of movements with the handle of the COBRA M5 joystick with remote springs to work as real CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM.

It is natural that some time should be spent for accustoming to the new scheme of management, to wean from finding of the handle of management of the joystick in the center. But more real feelings received subsequently when flying on "eight", compensate everything!

At desire to feel how moves in flight of CYCLIC CONTROL SYSTEM of the real helicopter, to receive more exact skills of management of the eight, each user, using these recommendations, will be able to make simple alterations of the joystick.

The fine tuning that goes into getting the bombs and tank to sit right in the racks is insane. Been at it for 3 hours now. Rotate a little bit here, move in a tad there, down a tad there....

Export the model, load DCS, Open mission and see how it is.

Back to Max, tweak some more...rinse and repeat.

All for you lot to then go and drop the darn things off the racks!!!

Note: I stopped the engine during flight so I could see more clearly the positions.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the details of what we go through making a module.

And just a quick update for everyone:

We're still working on solving bugs and merging new artwork into our existing codebase.
Many of the items in the July update are being checked off-- but we're still a ways out.

A few odds and ends (features that were "missed" or set as future Todos) are also being taken care of.

It's important to us that the Viggen is a very complete release, so that we can minimize the post-release support timeframe and focus our resources on the F-14 and other, future aircraft.
That said though, due to the size and complexity of the project, in comparison to the MiG-21, it's going to be an all hands on deck situation.

I wouldn't expect more than a few weeks between announcement and release. That's the hope and plan, in any case!

Segun Bunyap, el equipo que está desarrollando el F-14 es diferente al de AJS-37 Viggen y actualmente el equipo del F-14 está mas centrados en funcionalidad, mas que en entorno visual.

Dear All,

Bunyap was awesome enough to take the time and help us with releasing some very early carrier physics trapping and mechanics footage!

We've made a lot of progress over the past few weeks in implementing appropriate physics forces and other mechanics that allow for extremely accurate carrier trapping mechanics. This also brought with it a lot of work on the suspension of the aircraft.

Big thanks from the LN team to Bunyap and his awesome work to the community

Not a big priority right now (as we have already the 3D model completed and released), but we will update the 3D model of C-101EB/CC, starting from the scratch. The reason? is simple, with all the time we have invested on this project, we want to care about each single detail. So we feel that we can provide a more detailed 3D model and updated to the new standards. In the same way we are revising and rewriting most of the systems in order to provide the module we once dreamed.

No es una gran prioridad en este momento (ya que se ha completado el modelo 3D y lanzado), pero vamos a actualizar el modelo 3D del C-101EB /CC, comenzando desde cero. La razón? es simple, con todo el tiempo que hemos invertido en este proyecto, queremos cuidar cada uno de los detalles. Por lo que creemos que podemos proporcionar un modelo 3D más detallado y actualizado a los nuevos estandares. De la misma manera estamos revisando y reescribiendo la mayoría de los sistemas con el fin de proporcionar el módulo que una vez soñamos.
